Roosevelt Dam and Bridge
The Theodore Roosevelt Dam and bridge is located 76 miles NE of Phoenix Arizona. The dam is 357 feet high and 723 feet from edge to edge. The top of the dam is 21.6 feet wide and the bottom, mostly underwater, is 184 feet wide.
In 1996 the dam's height was increased by 77 feet bringing it to the new height of 357. The additional height increased the storage capacity of Roosevelt Lake by 20 percent, enough for 1 million more people. The dam has a hydro-generating capacity of 36,000 kilowatts
It would take approximately 33.61 Roosevelt Dams, producing 36,000 kilowatts a piece, just to generate the necessary |

To the bottom left is part of the old road that went over the dam. Before 1996 there was no bridge and all traffic had to cross the top of the old dam. The road was originally built for old Model-T type cars so only one car could cross the bridge at a time.
Here's a closer look at part of the old road that crossed the dam.
