Big Snow 01/21-23/2010
After 3 days of snow and wind one of our ponderosa pine trees fell to the ground from heavy snow and high winds.
We had 27 inches of snow in three days and extremely high winds. Power was out for almost three days.
View looking down the 65 foot ponderosa pine tree.
The tree was fighting for root space with two other trees and lost out.
The tree took down a 250 foot long 160 meter ham radio dipole antenna that I had strung throughout the tops of the trees.
View looking towards the road.
I shoveled off some of the snow from the tree trunk so it would melt faster for a better view of the trunk.
The top of the tree is a few feet from our side of the road and the power lines are on the other side of the road.
The neighbor across the street had one tree fall down and two others snapped off halfway up their trunks.
Here is what's left of the neighbors two tree trunks.
A bird next to a broken oak tree limb from the weight of the snow.

A few deer went through the yard and had to jump over the fallen tree.
